Staying in one of the fourteen ocean view suites at Edge of the Bay Resort was an absolute dream. Nestled into 27 acres of untouched bushland, in the heart of the Freycinet Peninsula, our side-by-side suites immersed us in some of Freycinet’s best scenery. One of the suites offered good access for Braeden’s needs and stellar views across Great Oyster Bay to the Hazards Mountain Range.

Edge of the Bay Resort review
We checked into two ocean view suites located side-by-side (not interconnecting). One of the two suites was access friendly but it should be noted that at the moment the suites are not considered accessible as they do not have rails and other features in the bathroom. We did learn during our stay that more suites are being built and there will be accessible suites among them and they will have their own laundry facilities too.

Step-free entry is offered to the suites and parking is provided close to the door (it is a gravel car space).

Once inside, the suite offers good circulation space and incredible views.

The access friendly suite offers twin beds, large screen television, lounge and a small kitchenette. Tea and coffee making facilities, a sink and mini fridge were welcomed for preparing our provided breakfast hamper in the morning.

An adjoining bathroom is equipped with a height adjustable shower wand, a choice of a shower chair or small bench seat and lever taps.

The bathroom is compact in size but still offers reasonable circulation space.

Waking up to the sunrise over Great Oyster Bay is worth setting the alarm for. Take time to enjoy the bird song and the tranquility of Coles Bay. I didn’t see another soul so I had this sunrise all to myself.

If you don’t fancy making the effort to go for a walk, you can be guaranteed of a good view from your own balcony.

Our breakfast hamper was generous with juice, milk, fresh sourdough bread, yoghurt, granola and some diced fruit in syrup.

We are always appreciative of a property with guest laundry facilities so we can catch up with washing and there is one at Edge of the Bay Resort but it should be noted there is a step up to access it. This will be solved of course once the new suites are built with individual laundry facilities included.

The Edge Restaurant is currently not open but will return in August 2025. From my snooping it looked like the upper level of the restaurant is accessible.

If you are visiting Coles Bay or the Freycinet region we can highly recommend a stay at The Edge of the Bay Resort if the facilities meet your needs. We will be keen to see the new accessible suites when they are built.
We were hosted for our stay but surely the photos show that this really is a beautiful property, and as always, our opinions are our own.
