The Launceston Changing Places bathroom is located in the heart of Launceston’s CBD, close to shopping and dining in the city. It is situated at the base of the Paterson St West multi-storey car park and requires a MLAK key to open.

Opened in 2021 the Launceston Changing Places bathroom was the first of its type in Northern Tasmania.

Over the years we have learnt what a difference it can make to many locals and travellers if an accessible bathroom with a hoist, adult-size change table and shower is available.

The features of a Changing Places bathroom cater to a range of needs and always include grab rails on either side of the toilet which have the ability to raise out of the way for transferring. A privacy screen is also a standard Changing Places feature, and given most of us like a little bit of privacy when doing our business, it’s a valuable inclusion.

The availability of a hoisted bathroom facility, with adult-size change table, often makes the difference of whether a person or family can stay out for the day or not, so I continue to promote and share the location of these facilities.

I am sure this Changing Places bathroom in Launceston’s CBD is a much-needed and welcome addition to the city’s accessible facilities.
