If you’ve been following updates from Travel Without Limits (our disability-specific travel magazine), you’ll have seen we decided to try something new this year. We wanted to recognise and celebrate businesses that do the right thing by making their facilities accessible and welcome to all, so we created the Best Accessible Bathroom Awards. You can read more about the idea here.
As today is International Day of People with Disabilities, it’s the perfect day to announce our winner. Drumroll, please…!
And the winner is: Lake Macquarie Manor 🏆
The UnleashedX accessible room at Lake Macquarie Manor offers exceptional features and facilities for visitors with disabilities. They’ve put a lot of thought and effort into the design, and made the most of the available space to make it as accessible as possible. The judges cited in their decision the height-adjustable basin, the provision of mobility and safety equipment (including commode and support bars), and the flooring surface which is “a pleasure to roll on”.
It’s a truly commendable achievement in providing accessible bathroom facilities, going above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable.

As winners of the Best Accessible Bathroom Awards, Lake Macquarie Manor will receive one years’ free advertising in Travel Without Limits, a $1,000 gift card from Bunnings Trade, and – of course – a golden toilet trophy.
Thank you to everyone who nominated amazing accessible facilities–the calibre of submissions was truly outstanding! And our endless gratitude to Country Care Group, Beachwheels Australia, and Bunnings Trade, whose support made the Best Accessible Bathroom Awards possible.
