On our Western Australia road trip we had a quick overnight stop in Kalbarri where we stayed at the Kalbarri Edge Resort in a comfortable two bedroom accessible apartment. It was all we needed for our stay with the apartment offering spacious accommodation for our family.

Kalbarri Edge Resort review
Kalbarri Edge Resort offers self-contained, serviced accommodation with 4-star features and facilities. Our booking was for an accessible two bedroom apartment which is essentially two apartments with an interconnecting door. If you don’t need that much space you can book the one bedroom accessible apartment which offers a king-size bed, accessible bathroom, lounge area and kitchenette. The accommodation is a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to access but it worked well for our family.

The bedroom offers good space on one side of the bed for transferring from a wheelchair and plenty of circulation space within the room. A wardrobe and air conditioning is provided but it should be noted that the hanging rail in the wardrobe is not at a lowered height.
Bedroom facts – Bedroom door 88cm, bed height 63cm and under bed clearance 12cm.

Adjoining the bedroom is a spacious accessible bathroom which offers both a shower bench with hand-held shower and a spa bath.

As a travelling family we appreciate any accommodation that offers a washing machine and dryer so we made use of this as soon as we arrived.
Bathroom facts – bathroom door 88cm, shower bench height 48cm, toilet height to pan 45cm and to seat 47cm.

Lounges, a dining table and kitchen facilities are all included in the accessible apartment.

As always we were happy to have kitchen facilities including a full-size fridge, dishwasher and microwave. The location of the microwave is out of reach for a wheelchair user or for anyone that isn’t tall.

As a family of four we needed the space offered with the interconnecting one bedroom apartment. It offers a queen size bed, single bed and a kitchenette with a microwave, kettle and sink.

The adjoining bathroom has a glass cubicle shower with step-free entry.

Take a walk through the apartments with me below.

We were not staying long enough to take advantage of the step-free access to the verandah in the accessible apartment but if we were staying longer it would have been a great place to sit and enjoy a barbecue.

Ramp access is available to the accessible apartment (140).

Accessible parking is right at the front door of the accessible apartment.
Kalbarri Edge Resort offered all we needed for a comfortable overnight stay. We were hosted for our stay but as always our opinions are our own.
Kalbarri Skywalk is a not-to-be-missed attraction when staying in Kalbarri. You can read about our experience in this review.
While in Kalbarri we recommend driving to Red Bluff and taking a stroll or wheel along the accessible path for gorgeous views of the coast.

Visit during the day or pack a picnic and enjoy the view at sunset from Red Bluff.

Also not to be missed in Kalbarri is the Red Bluff Bakery and Cafe which is just a short drive from Kalbarri Edge Resort. We bought delicious rolls to take with us road tripping but EVERYTHING in this bakery looks delicious.

If you’re looking for a more substantial meal, Finlay’s gets a big thumbs up from us for food and atmosphere. Don’t let the staircase at the front of the restaurant put you off, if you wander up the left hand side of the restaurant there is wheelchair access. You do need to open the small gate to get in but families in the know with prams were heading that way so we simply followed.
