The Hilton Chicago opened its doors in 1927 and has played host to a range of dignities from presidents to British royals. For me, a mere regular joe, the hotel was simply a convenient base during a travel conference with its location providing good access to local attractions.
An accessible/ADA room with two bathrooms is rare to find but it is a convenient option for families, or friends travelling together, so when I heard this was on offer at Hilton Chicago I had to take a look so I could share the information in a review.
Hilton Chicago review
When the Hilton Chicago opened in 1927, it was the largest hotel in the world with 3,000 guest rooms. It sounds like it was a hotel striving to be that something extra with a bowling alley, movie theatre and 18 hole miniature golf course included in its design.
While some of the charm has been maintained in the lobby, with the hotel’s stunning grand staircases serving as a reminder of a bygone era, the guest rooms are dated and needing revitalisation.

Both the accessible/ADA room I inspected, and the room I occupied for my five night stay, looked out onto other walls of the hotel which made them dark inside. I suspect the rooms with a park view would be much brighter. So, my first tip is to see if you can secure a park view.
Hilton Chicago has a range of accessible/ADA rooms offering a variety of facilities for those with mobility and hearing needs.

The accessible room I was able to inspect offered two double beds and two bathrooms.

One of the bathrooms included a roll-in shower with shower bench, height-adjustable and hand held shower wand and grab rails throughout.

The toilet has grab rails beside and behind it and the wash basin has access underneath.

The second bathroom included a bathtub, toilet and wash basin.

Bookings need to be made to access Hilton Chicago’s indoor pool but it is available free for guest use.

A pool seat is available to make access into the pool easier for those with a mobility restriction.
Hilton Chicago is close to Millenium Park, Chicago’s Lakefront and The Art Institute and various rail stations (not all are accessible via elevator).
