RACV Noosa Resort is just a short five minute drive from the bustling boutiques and restaurants of Hastings Street. The resort offers a two bedroom accessible apartment and accessible facilities including a pool hoist to access the heated outdoor pool.

RACV Noosa Resort review
RACV Noosa Resort is an expansive property with a variety of accommodation styles.

The accessible apartment my travel buddy stayed in offered step-free access, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen and lounge area.
Bedroom facts – 86cm bedroom entry, bed height 62cm, under bed clearance 12cm and 54cm clearance on either side of the bed.

An accessible bathroom adjoins the main bedroom and offers good circulation space.

The bathroom is equipped with a shower bench, though staff did mention a shower chair can be requested if that is preferred. Grab rails, lever taps and a height adjustable shower are features of this bathroom.
Bathroom facts – bathroom entry 86cm, shower bench height 48cm, toilet height to pan 43cm, toilet height to seat 46cm.

Second bedroom facts – same as main bedroom above.

In the second bathroom there is a bath with a shower overhead.

If you feel inclined, self-catering is made easy with a full size fridge and well stocked cupboards with crockery and cutlery (all at a good height for access). If you prefer to take it easy and leave the cooking to someone else, then Dazza (how Australian is that name?) has you covered at the onsite bistro.

The apartment offers reasonable circulation space throughout, though my travel buddies’ scooter was large and there was some moving of furniture to accommodate it in the lounge area. The scooter was simply too large to go into the bedrooms.

A comfortable lounge area with television provides a cosy space for relaxing nights in.

Or, if you prefer, dine alfresco on the terrace with a barbecue.

RACV Noosa Resorts‘ pool is a magnet for guests. Under the shade of the swaying palms kids, or kids at heart, can play in the sand in the shallow bay on the edge of the deeper pool.

A welcome sight is the pelican pool hoist which is in place for guests who need a helping hand into the pool.

My visit to RACV Noosa Resort coincided with a long weekend. Being early May it was the last hurrah of warm weather so it was busy and teaming with families. Dinner in the restaurant in the evenings was chaotically busy but if you can find a quiet corner the food is delicious and the live music on the weekend is appreciated.
The included buffet breakfast offers a good range of hot options, cereals, breads, fruits, yoghurts and more. Plenty of choice.
I was a little perplexed at labelling of items as “low gluten”. I didn’t see specific gluten free items but perhaps I was too rushed and missed them.

Between the pool and the games room it is easy to see why RACV Noosa Resort is so popular with families. Unusually, many of the games in the games room are offered free! That’s a word that makes every parent happy.

I was a little overwhelmed by the busyness of the resort on the Friday night when we arrived but by Saturday night I’d settled into both my one bedroom studio and the resort in general.
Due to the tight space beside the beds in the accessible two bedroom apartment, this property may not suit people with large wheelchairs needing to transfer beside the bed.
Some of the other accommodation within the resort, though not deemed accessible, was spacious and offered internal lifts within the units. A ramp can be provided to these properties as there is a single step up to them. A shower chair is also available to loan from RACV Noosa Resort.
I was hosted but as always, my opinions are my own and I hope the information and images provided help you decide if RACV Noosa Resort is accessible to you.
